Volunteering: More fun than a dancing cat.
14 Black Poppies in conjunction with Progressive Grounds has embarked on a journey to curate and produce cultural events that are free and open to the public. The vision is simple: to sustain a space where neighbors knows neighbors and culture thrives. This vision needs support, and we need YOU to get involved.

How can you help? The answer is equally simple: volunteer.

Here are some roles we need:

Social Butterflies -- We want people to know what we do. We also are a small operation. Social Butterflies help us get the word out in physical and virtual space by sharing our posts, distributing postcards, and posting events to listserves/groups/etc. The time commitment is minimal, and in return you’ll get a free beverage for each event you help promote.

Friendly Neighbors -- We believe that being friendly and courteous makes for a pleasant event and community. Friendly Neighbors foster an environment of camaraderie and culture by welcoming guests, problem solving, and and graciously accepting donations. The time commitment is about 3 hours per event, and in return you’ll get a free meal for each event for which you volunteer.

Helping Hands -- We know producing events are labors of love. Helping Hands lend their strength to make sure the events go smoothly by moving tables, washing dishes, and lending a helping hand. The time commitment is about 3 to 4 hours per event, and in return you will get a free meal and beverage of your choosing for each event for which you volunteer.

Document Hounds -- We love documentation because it helps us tell our story. Document Hounds snap photos, record video, and/or write stories at/about our event. They share their stories, photos, and/or videos with us, and we post them to our blog. The time commitment varies per event, and in return you will get a free meal for each event for which you document.

How do I volunteer? Again, it’s simple: email Jason Wyman at jason@14blackpoppies.com. In the subject, please write “Volunteer!” and in the body of the email let him know which role(s) you prefer.

Have an idea about how to help out? Pitch it to us. We’d love to hear how you want to support 14 Black Poppies and make culture thrive.
