14 Black Poppies believes in supporting the development of all workers. This is rooted in Jason Wyman's experience helping to define and implement core competencies for youth development professionals in San Francisco through his work with the After School for All Technical Assistance Collaborative.
As a result of this work, the After School for All Council (a partnership between the Department of Children Youth and Their Families, San Francisco Unified School District, employers, and worker) adopted a set of core competencies for line staff and managers in after-school programs.
While these competencies are specific for after school and youth development, they are easily transferable to other sectors and settings.
