Gracefully poignant Emmi Bevensee opened the evening with her HyPhy queercore jazz folk. Star Amerasu, whose siren song enthralled, cast her spell second. Finally one person band Thunder Thighs closed the evening with looped guitar and violin over which she sang her fight.
Personally, I was moved beyond words watching these three tell tales and create magic. Even in the kitchen washing dishes or cooking, I found myself pausing so I could listen intently. I'm excited to see these three bloom, grow, and continue making music.
And here is what Star has to say, "Having the opportunity to bring together such amazing artists is astounding me. I feel honestly quite blessed. There was so much tangible love in that space. I had an amazing time. Being enriched in such a fabulous gathering of spirits, is exactly what make me feel alive. Not just walking through the motions of life, but actually living. The world can become such an astounding place sometimes, if we let it. Big thank you to Jason Wyman, and14 Black Poppies, such a great collab. I cannot wait to see what the future holds."
Listen below to Star on the Common Thread Collective show on Mutiny Radio hosted by Diamond Dave, Valerie Ibarra, and Douglass. She took to the waves on Friday, February 15 promoting Rising Stars and singing her original song "Space".
