She will be screening her short film "Tokens of Affection" and selling candles and other items at A Solstice Celebration on Friday, December 21 at Progressive Grounds (2301 Bryant St, SF).
Meet Maria Picar:
My inspiration has always been my life as well as other peoples' lives to draw stories for films.
My muses have been people like Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, and Clint Eastwood (directors and producers).
I've always been a "performer" first through dance (for over twenty years) and now film. My current project "All The Wrong Moves" combines both my experiences with dance and film together for the first time!
I hope others take away from my films and my performances pieces of life and how its' important to keep the arts alive in all of us! It helps with these depressing times to hopefully shine some light on how people use their art as communication and healing.
The film I have showing Friday night is my current short "Tokens of Affection" based on the passage of three very important people in my life.
You can find out more about Maria's work and films here and here.
