I had the pleasure of meeting Michael thanks to the lovely (and frequent collaborator) Star Amerasu. Star and I hosted tea time with potential In Flux performers and chatted about themes of change, healing, and renewal.
Michael has been madly working on his performance for In Flux, and posts updates on his Facebook page. I wanted to share one of the updates with y'all, our dear readers, because...well...it gives insight into his process of creation, the themes he's grappling with, and the deeply personal reasons he's doing all of it.
So here is Michael in his own words:
So i decided to portray the act of self evolution in my upcoming event for influx. I want people to know and myself as well that while Ms. Trina is forevermore the icon she has always been, there is a deep dark story of woe and sorrow. For it takes a great deal of pain and heartache to achieve the highest amount of self love and prosperity. So while SHE is performing, take notice of the artistic way this story is being told. Because HE will emerge as one person, with one message, and one intention: Not everyone can handle the pressure of evolution, especially when its their personal environment that is evolving.
Many never ponder why there is a big disconnection between action and mentality. Or events and the coping (or celebrating) of lifes moments. You see, Im very emotional and always seem to notice what others simply brush away. There is a big change in this society. in this city. SO howcome no one seems to notice the slow decline of cultural diversity? everything is a profit. but not an experience.
Trina is an experience, but Michael is the final outcome. IN this sense, you can say they are conflicting to find a peace. its a conflict of moral obligation. Its Chaos! Its an InFlux of some sorts....
