Hilda Herrera is our shining star intern. She is co-teaching the CAT'S Got Talent training program at her high school. Hilda's Seat is a column that shares her perspective on the program. Check out what she has to say about auditions.

Today’s (Wednesday, September 11) auditions for CAT's Got Talent was spectacular. Everyone was engaged in the activities that were planned out. Like when we did icebreakers and overviews of the opportunities other internships had to offer, students showed interest and engagement towards them. I felt that the overall process of the audition was great. I feel like I can say that everyone felt safe in the environment we provided. We were able to be ourselves and show who we are as people, we showed our real colors. Our process -- including icebreakers, presentations, applications, interviews, and activities --  is a unique way of really breaking the ice, making it fun and easy. I believe that more auditions shoulds happen this way.

This time instead of auditioning or getting interviewed, I was on the other end of the string. Being an interviewer is not quite what I expected. I did not realize how hard and difficult it is to be able to pick someone out of other amazing people. The process can get boring, since the same questions are repeated to twenty students. Having the patience and interest of the student's responses helped me understand how and why they wanted this internship. This made me realize that you really have to stand out there in the world because people can getting boring. Interviewers do very much appreciate when people are bedazzled and interesting. Interviewing people was a new experience that I hope to repeat in the future, because it shows you how people are intrigued to audition.

I hope that I can improve my leadership skills of having great patience, ideas and being able to lead concepts. My hopes from auditions are that we will be able to create a unique, special and amazing showcase. I hope to have a strong creative team. I think we will be able to show everyone what great talents there are. Not only are talents based on visual arts and musical art but as well being able to whistle through your nose or being able to solve math problems faster than a calculator. I hope that people learn from us that talent is anything unique. I hope we have a great time and lots of fun.
